Fabrication Controls
We maintain accuracy for sawing, shearing, and cutting to ± .010" and surface finish to within 100 rms. Brake press bends are inspected for angular/straightness accuracy. Necessary adjustments are made in dies to maintain straightness to ±.010" and angularity to ±.1 degree. After cold forming, material is inspected for stress cracking. Geometric and dimensional accuracy in punch-pressed holes is maintained to ±.010" with necessary adjustments made in jigs and fixtures. All roll-formed parts are inspected for contour (roundness), and adjustments are made to keep dimensions within ±.010".

Welding Controls
Careful inspections determine the weldability of the material, the metal filler, surface condition, and fit. Workpieces are inspected for proper joints, and assemblies are measured for geometric/dimensional accuracy. In addition, our welding machines are recalibrated monthly. Our experienced technicians visually inspect all welds for incomplete fusion, underfill, cracks, cavities, warping, and other irregularities. Nondestructive testing, such as dye penetrant, ultrasound, and radiographic testing, is used as required to search for hidden faults. We also conduct destructive tests by taking coupons of the materials and welds for metallurgic microanalysis or for testing to failure as a check on physical consistency.

Material Controls
We require all raw materials to be accompanied by certified analyses of physicals and chemistry, and we double-check these analyses in our laboratory. Bend testing and grain alignment are assessed on materials that require cold forming. Weldability tests are performed on materials destined for welding.
